Josephine Sakwa, a forex bureau manager, received the perfect Christmas gift courtesy of Lotto when she became the first Kenyan to win five cars at ago after participating in the Lotto ‘Give Me Five’ Power Draw competition.
The draw handed Lotto participants a chance to walk away with five brand new locally assembled VW Polos (Volkswagen Polo Vivo five door hatch back), each with Sh50, 000 fuel vouchers, one-year insurance cover and a three-year warranty and an additional Sh1 million.
“I was encouraged to begin playing Lotto by my mother who has been a participant for long but I gave in around March this year. I hoped to win big one day but never thought I could strike such a huge win.
I thank God and my mother for this win,” an elated Sakwa said upon recieving the keys to the five cars and tested one. Lotto and DT Dobie handed over the car keys to Sakwa at the DT Dobie show room in Nairobi by DT Dobie’s General Sales Manager Usha Nagpal who said they were happy to be part of the venture to make Kenyans happy with a locally made car, adding that the partnership with Lotto was just starting.
Speaking at the event, Lotto’s communications Director Dennis Muigai said the firm was happy to share the prizes with Kenyans and encouraged many more to play, as this would benefit not only the players, but also the less fortunate in the society.
“We have, through the Lotto Foundation, spent up to Sh400 million on charities, courtesy of you Kenyans,” Muigai said.Sakwa voiced the possibility of starting her own business venture, but will pause for the ground to settle before making any concrete plans. She joins Lotto’s growing list of lucky strikers bandwagon of 235 millionaires and 22 multi-millionaires since its inception in November 2015.
