High court temporarily stops SRC from reviewing MPs salaries

The high court has temporarily stopped the salaries and remuneration commission, SRC, from effecting the new pay cut structure for members of parliament after the parliamentary service commission filed an application on Thursday asking the court to suspend the July 7th gazette notice effecting MPs’ new salary structures, terming it unreasonable.

The PAC accused SRC of intruding into its constitutional mandate to provide services to ensure efficient functioning of parliament.

This as reports emerged that thousands of public servants are set to lose their jobs as the government seeks to control the sky-rocketing wage bill.
