Recently, a concert by South African rapper Casper Nyovest attracted tens of thousands of fans, filling a 94,000 sitter stadium.
News about Casper’s ‘achievement’ went viral and hundreds of African artistes were quick to congratulate him. Locally, Kenyan artistes could not help, but only hope that one of them will one day break that ceiling just like their South African counterpart.
One of them was gospel singer Bahati. The EMB Records boss stated that the African music industry is proud of the achievement, but hopes that Kenyan artistes would one day grow to the same level or even better.
“What Casper did was not a small thing because the Soccer City is the fifth largest stadium in the world. He made history with that and I want to believe that our time will also come and we will do so.
I hope that on December 31 this year, during the EMB Records concert, I will be able to do so too in Jesus name,” he told PD Wikendi via phone. Bahati is scheduled to perform at the Thika Stadium for an event dubbed EMB Jesus Party.
