President Kenyatta, IEBC ask court to dismiss Omtata petition

President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission IEBC have asked the Supreme Court to dismiss a petition filed by Activist Okiya Omtata, challenging his October 26th repeat election victory.

Through their lawyers, the two argue that the court lacks the jurisdiction to hear the matter, further questioning the validity of the petition, which was filed before the election.

Deputy Chief Justice Philomena Mwilu, is now expected to constitute a bench to hear the matter and consider the responses by President Kenyatta and IEBC, before the supreme court begins hearing two other petitions, related to the controversial October 26th repeat presidential election.
