Handball fans are in for another interesting weekend as Kenya Handball Federation national league matches continue at Kaloleni Handball Court as heavy weights Black Mamba are set to face off with fellow title contenders Strathmore University.
Last weekend’s fixtures saw National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) suffer their first loss of the season in the hands of military men Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and a similar fate awaits either of the above teams in Saturday’s fixtures. Mamba and Strathmore remain unbeaten after 12 and 11 matches respectively.
Six matches are scheduled Saturday where Boomerang opens the fixtures against Bungoma’s Rangers before Ulinzi Youth take on Kenyatta University. KDF are set to play Multi Media University (MMU) in the third match of the day.
The military men are likely to extend their lead with the said fixture if their opponent’s past performance is anything to go by. MMU are ranked 16th at four points from 12 matches. The side has won just two of their fixtures while KDF remains unbeaten. NCPB will also be looking to safe face after last weekend’s loss when they take on Boomerang in the latter’s second match of the day.
This is another crowd-puller as Boomerang is ranked fifth at 15 points; five shy of fourth placed NCPB, having played 13 matches winning seven, drawing in one and lost five. Rangers are also playing their second match of the day against Generations.
Meanwhile, women’s category leaders and title holders Nairobi Water will do duty against fourth-placed Kenyatta University in the category’s 10th round matches. Water won the first round fixture played on September 24 by 42 goals to KU’s 14.
NCPB ladies will also be in action against Mt Kenya University-Thika. The former have registered six wins to log third at 12 points while the latter have won three of their eight matches and drew in one for seven points.
