Stray Lions moved to the summit of the Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association Super League after thumping Ruaraka by eight wickets at the their backyard last weekend.
Captain Hiren Varaiya was the toss of the match after picking six wickets to help knock out Ruaraka 58/10. His 21 runs off 45 balls were significant in hurting Ruaraka as their batsmen disappointed.
They only lost two wickets in 7.3 overs as the four visiting batsmen put together a grand score of 64/2. Lions selected to field after losing the toss but went about tearing their hosts apart with opener Nikhil Date and spinner Shem Obado contributing the other four wickets.
The Lions chase of the low score was impressive as they put in big hitters Collins Obuya and Manoj Sai who combined for 27 runs before the former was caught by wicketkeeper Hirani Chandresh off Purshotam Vekaria’s delivery. Anup Fulper and regular batsman Abraham Vadada took over the crease and contributed 35 off 22 balls for the easy win.
Fulper hit three boundaries and two sixes as his team took full charge of proceedings. Ruaraka opener Samay Srivastav was the top scorer with 18 off 39 balls that included two boundaries. Lions thus collected 18 points and moved to the apex of the league on 230 points after Kanbis and Gymkhana failed to after a heavy downpour.
