Personal identification documents and clothes belonging to John Ndirangu Mapozi, one of the chopper crash victims, were on Saturday recovered by a group of divers combing the lake.

Among the items recovered by the search team was a Jubilee Party shirt with his name inscribed on it, a jacket, pair of shoes, a vest and trousers which were found floating close to the shore of the lake.

The team, which has been combing the lake since October 21, also recovered a wallet which had his identification card, NHIF card, cash and hotel room keys from Jarika Hotel among other documents. According to National Disaster Operation desk officer Jonathan Keritich, recovery of the items has rekindled lost hope to the families to find the remaining bodies and urged them to be calm as the operation continues. “We were able to recover personal identification documents belonging to Mapozi. It is a positive landmark and we hope to find the bodies soon,”he said.
