Alert as fraudsters solicit money for Korir burial

The Eldoret Catholic Church has urged North Rift residents to be cautious of fraudsters soliciting money for preparations and burial costs of the late bishop Cornelius Korir slated for Saturday.

Fr Fredrick Njoroge from the Eldoret Diocese said they have not authorised any such collections and asked the public to ignore those moving around with printed cards soliciting money.

“It has come to the attention of the church that some conmen have printed pro-formers which they are using to collect money from unsuspecting members of the public to meet the burial costs of the late Bishop. Let me warn the public not to fall prey to the fraudsters as the church has not authorised such collection,” he said.
