International fly half Nato Simiyu has been recalled to the national rugby 15s team after head coach Jerome Paarwater named his 26-man squad for Hong Kong Cup of Nation’s tournament yesterday. Nato’s return as well as the recalling of former Kenya Sevens dead ball specialist Biko Adema can be seen as a technical move as their experience is necessary for the big stage as Kenya debuts in the tournament. “Am glad to have them back in the team.
They have been consistent in training and they deserve to be in the squad,” said Paarwater. Simiyu missed the entire 2017 season while Biko returns from a knock he picked at the RFUEA grounds when Simbas hosted Hong Kong in the first match of their tour on August 20.
The last match Simiyu featured for Kenya, the team downed Hong Kong 34-10 in 2016 hence necessitating his individual brilliance inclusion in the Hong Kong tour. New call ups Strathmore’s Alex Olaba and Elkeans Musonye have also been joined by KCB centre Peter Kilonzo in the 26 man traveling party. Kenya Harlequins fly half Isaac Adimo’s unexpected axe from the squad has been termed ‘necessary’ by the tactician due to discipline issues.
“It’s a petty that Adimo went off a bit, not sticking to the program and discipline enough to do what we are asking him to do. I am sure we will solve things with him, he is a quality player and he will be back in the mix again, he just has to get his focus right,” he added.
