Scouting Movement Founder’s grave one of the most visited sites

It is  a treasure that is only found in Nyeri county, the tomb housing the remains of the father of the scouting movement Lord Baden Powell.

After his retirement in 1939, Robert Baden Powell, a writer, artist and founder of the International Scouting Movement  moved to a cottage he had commissioned in Nyeri and lived in the single-roomed house he named Paxtu.

The cottage, which was incorporated into the current Outspan hotel, now serves as a scouting museum in Nyeri county where his remains were buried in fulfilment of his wish to be nearer to god.
