Safaricom Jazz is a one-way ticket to happiness. This Saturday, November 4, at the Uhuru Gardens along Lang’ata Road in Nairobi, Senegalese vocalist and bassist Alune Wade will be headlining the Safaricom Jazz Lounge concert. He is popularly known for creating a jazz sound that mixes African tribe sound and Western contemporary sound.
New York-based Jazz singer and composer, Kavita Shah, will also be part of the line-up alongside two Kenyan bands: Mambo Tribe and the Limericks that will showcase the growth and talent in the Kenyan Jazz scenes.
Proceeds from all ticket sales will be donated to the Ghetto Classics Music programme based in Korogocho slums, Nairobi. Tickets available on safaricomjazzfestival.co.ke at Sh2,000 and Sh500 for students with ID. Gates open at 6pm with show starting at 8pm to midnight. – Saturday
DIVERSE CITY GALA
The Diverse City gala will go down this Saturday, November 4, at the Le Palanka Restaurant in Lavington, Nairobi. The event will feature budding artists, photographers, musicians, spoken word artistes, poets, fashion designers and vendors. The gala will also feature an exhibition on the ‘Art of War’, which unites diverse cultures and the effects. Tickets go for Sh800. Event runs 6pm-10pm. – Saturday
THE JW FASHION SHOW
The JW Fashion Show is on this Saturday, November 4, at the Thika Road Mall starting 6pm-10pm. The show connects local designers around Africa through fashion shows, fashion experts, fashion bloggers and taste makers.
The theme for this editIon is ‘Made In Kenya By Kenyans’, as it seeks to highlight Kenyan designers aiming at promoting their designs.
