A 20-year-old man is recuperating at the Samburu Referral Hospital after he was stabbed in the stomach by an ex-lover over a phone memory card. Sammy Ekiru said the woman accosted him on Friday night as he was leaving a friend’s house and stabbed him with a kitchen knife.
“She followed me saying I had her phone memory card which I didn’t have. After realising what she had done (stabbing him) she ran away,” he said. He accused the suspect of trying to force a re-union.
She woman was, however, cornered by irate residents who frog-marched her to Maralal Police Station. “Investigations are ongoing and the suspect will be arraigned in court on Monday,” the Officer Commanding Samburu Central police division, Abagaro Guyo said, adding that the matter was as a result of domestic squabbles.
Samburu Referral Hospital Medical Superintendent Robert Nato said the patient suffered liver damage as the knife penetrated deep into his stomach but was operated on and is responding well to treatment.
“The patient is under close monitoring, he is responding well to treatment but might refer him to a Nairobi hospital for specialised treatment if on Monday,” he said. -KNA
