The ThirdWay Alliance presidential candidate Ekuru Aukot yesterday criticised Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga for boycotting the repeat election and causing a political stalemate.
Speaking after casting his vote at Kapedo Primary School in Tiaty, Aukot also accused the Opposition leader of intimidating his supporters. “Raila should have allowed Kenyans to exercise their constitutional rights instead of punishing them with protests,” he said.
He urged Kenyans to maintain peace after yesterday’s repeat election adding that the nation needs to move forward. Baringo Senator Gideon Moi also joined other leaders in calling for peace.
Speaking after casting his vote at Tandui Primary School in Baringo Central, Moi urged Kenyans to vote peacefully and avoid chaos. Moi said he was confident President Uhuru Kenyatta would emerge victorious in the election.
“I have confidence that Uhuru Kenyatta will win and carry on with his transformation agenda,” said Moi, adding that Kanu, which is affiliated to Jubilee, had vigorously campaigned for the President’s re-election. He called for an end to the political stalemate, saying the country needs to focus on other issues.
