Busia County Commissioner Michael ole Tialal has said enough security personnel will be deployed to protect Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) officials who will conduct the fresh presidential elections.
He also warned that persons who try to block others from going to vote will be met with the full force of the law.
Speaking during Mashujaa Day celebrations at Busia Stadium, the commissioner called on residents to maintain peace before and after elections, adding that people who are not willing to participate in the exercise should stay home instead of resorting to violence.
Leaders at the function also urged for peace sobriety ahead of the poll.
“Leaders have put the country in a quagmire. We shall not know the importance of peace in the country until peace becomes elusive. We should embrace peace which should be an obligation. Look for peace which can bring development,” said Sheikh Mohamed Oyuolo adding that the direction taken by leaders and parties can land the country in anarchy.
Busia Deputy Governor Moses Mulomi said the country is in a political mood but said Nasa will not take part in the poll until its demands are met.
