Big Kev’s send off

On Saturday, all wheels led to Siaya as the local entertainment industry players laid to rest Big Kev, 43. Kevin Ombajo aka Big Kev passed away on Saturday July 29, at the Nairobi Hospital after a long battle with a recurring brain tumour.

Kev founded TruBlaq Entertainment and was CEO of the firm until his demise. He had undergone 13 surgeries, the last, leaving him blind. He was laid to rest today in Gem, Siaya County. On Thursday, a memorial service was held at Nairobi Baptist in his honour.

The memorial service was graced the crème of entertainment industry including Big Ted, Kriss Darlin, Kidum, Sauti Sol, Wahu, Jalang’o, Chipukeezy, Nameless, DJ Mo, Kalekye Mumo, MC Alemba, Gabu, Collo, among others. His daughter, Shana, described him as a man who was more than a father.

Kev’s wife Tracy also spoke of their times together as she remembered the good old times. Performing at Thursday’s memorial were Kev’s favourite singers Mercy Masika and Kidum.

During the performance, Kidum went ahead to reveal that he sang the song Nipe Nguvu six times in Nairobi Hospital for Kev. RIP Big Kev. You will be missed.
