Govt’ to spend over Ksh.100B on the august 8th poll

Kenya is set to hold its most expensive election ever in just thirteen days.

It’s expected to top 100 billon shillings in aggregate spend and could be Africa’s most expensive on a cost-per-voter basis, with both the government and individual candidates spending millions of shillings to secure the electoral process or campaigning to get elected.

Compared to other African countries Kenya will spend 2540 shillings on one voter, 7 times more than the recommended amount to be spent on elections.

In our weekly Super Tuesday bulletin we interrogate why this election is so expensive?
