Former anti-corruption boss testifies in Anglo Leasing case

Former director of the Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission now Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) Justice Aaron Ringera yesterday narrated before a Nairobi court how he initiated investigations into Anglo-Leasing security contracts in which the government lost millions of shillings.

Ringera informed Milimani senior principal magistrate Martha Mutuku that then Kenya Anti-Corruption Commission started the investigations into the alleged scam in 2006.

Ringera was testifying in a case in which the late former Finance minister David Mwiraria, three former PSs Joseph Magari, Dave Mwangi and David Onyonka and businessmen Deepak and Rashmi Kamani have been charged with a conspiracy to defraud the government.

“We were investigating 16 security tenders popularly known as Anglo Leasing. In 2006 I forwarded two files regarding Postal Authority, infotalent limited in the office of president among others,” said Ringera. The hearing continues.
