Starboy aka Wizkid brought Nairobi to a standstill on Saturday night at the just-concluded Barbecue Festival. The Nigerian star arguably pulled what was possibly the biggest crowd at KICC in the history of music concert, this year.
Neither the pounding rain nor the pricey entrance fee was deterrent enough to keep out his fans. Of course, before his performance Kenyan artistes put up a show that hyped the crowd in readiness for the main act. Nameless, Gin Ideal, Fena, DJ Exclusive, Redsan among others together with their dancers enchanted the concert.
Fena did not disappoint. Dressed in a classy colourful onesie, she mesmerised the crowd with an electric performance of her catchy tunes. Nameless reset the crowd on a flashback mode with his old tunes, which it impressively sang along to.
And when he broke into his successful song Coming Home, the crowd was elated and screamed for more.
Gin Ideal then had her chance to vibe the crowd.
Man,did she impress. Redsan, who was a surprise act, owned the stage with his towering figure and dancers dressed in white shirts.
The energy was charged so much that when Wizkid hit the stage, the crowd went into frenzy.
The rain had stopped for a while but made a heavy return when Wizkid started performing.
He gave no mind its pelting and belted out hit after hit as his patronage sang along word by word. He was stunning, but the playback somehow took away from his live show. Perhaps not every star can pull off a flawless live show. At least he did not lip sync.
From Daddy Yo, Caro, Ojuelegba, Final, Show The Money, African Bad Gyal, Come Closer to more of his famous hits, Wizkid spread musical ecstasy. It was a lit night.
