Fresh from a morale boost away win over Griffins in Kisumu, Lubinu Rangers (pictured) will play host to Shabana in Division One league match on Saturday in Lubinu Primary School, Kakamega County.
Speaking in Mumias Town on Thursday morning Lubinu Rangers coach Nelson Wanyama revealed that his side is taking the match seriously and targeting all three points. “Shabana is a tough side going by their long-time experience in top flight leagues we need to prepare well by making things hard for them.
Our team has really improved in all departments through stiff competition being exhibited in training with each player fighting for first 11 positions,” said Wanyama. He added that his side has been struggling to convert goals but he is happy it is now something of the past going by the performance in the last three matches.
He praised the management of the team for ensuring all the players’ needs are catered for in the right time something that has boosted the morale of the team.
Dennis Eshitemi and Bakari Okutoyi who are enjoying top form and both scored a brace each during their match against Griffin will be called upon to help the team collect all the points.
The team received a donation of new playing kits and with token cash last weekend from Mumias East MP Ben Washiali, the patron. Elsewhere, Green Commandos star James Mazembe has received plaudits’ from school’s coaching staff after signing a contract with SPL side Kariobangi Sharks.
Brendan Mwinamo who is leading other coaches in preparations for East Africa championship stated that Mazembe has all the attributes to succeed in top level soccer. “For me it’s not a big surprise I have been closely working with the boy and he is a top quality player.
“His work rate, pace and discipline are some factors that will see him go far in his football career,” said Mwinamo. He added that several top teams had expressed interest in the youngster after his impressive performance in the just-concluded secondary schools championship that was held in Nyeri.
