Manchester City have no desire to sell Sergio Aguero to Chelsea. The Stamford Bridge club believe the Argentine could be open to leaving City as Gabriel Jesus establishes himself as their main striker though a deal remains unlikely.
Publicly, Aguero and his agent have maintained they have a good relationship with Pep Guardiola and the 29-year-old was on City’s flight to the USA on Monday. Guardiola and City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarek maintain they do not want to sell the crowd favourite.
Indeed, when asked about Aguero’s future earlier in the summer, Al Mubarak said: ‘I’ve read a lot of the speculation on this and it’s ridiculous. ‘Sergio Aguero is one of the best players in the world. We are a team that aspires to win every competition we compete in.
‘Having Sergio Aguero as part of the squad is an absolute must. It has never been in doubt.’ City are waiting on developments with Alexis Sanchez. Arsenal will look to ensure that if he doesn’t stay with them that he at least doesn’t join a Premier League rival.
However, Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge today declared they were no longer in the running for the Chilean. Chelsea have also flirted with Sanchez though their primary striker target now is Alvaro Morata at Real Madrid though the Spanish side’s £80m valuation plus the presence of big-spending AC Milan is complicating matters.
Plus, talks over a potential £25m move for Madrid right-back Danilo. Chelsea have also sounded out Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Borussia Dortmund and are willing to pay around £7million a year in wages after tax but have yet to make a formal bid for the £60m-rated 28-year-old.
They retain an interest in Crystal Palace forward Christian Benteke too while Loic Remy is a target for Lille. Chelsea still want £60m for Diego Costa but have had little above £26m offered by Atletico Madrid so far and the errant striker is doing his best to try and lower the asking price after posing in an Atletico shirt at the weekend. -DAILYMAIL
