Khwisero fought hard to beat Vihiga Allstars 2-0 in entertaining FKF Division Two Zone ‘A’ match played in Mwihila Secondary School on Sunday. John Arunga and Kennedy Aywa struck in each half, that not only ensured their opponents leave Khwisero empty-handed but also saw them move from relegation zone.
Contrary to the results it was Francis Chinjili charges that controlled the match for a better part of the first half, only that their striking was not precise. Arunga made a solo move from the mid of the park weaving passed a forest of players before curving the ball in the far post corner that found Vihiga shot stopper off the line to hand the hosts a lead in the 34th minute.
Vihiga who responded swiftly were unlucky after what seemed like an equaliser was ruled out for an offside after Vincent Ateka had slotted in from a close range. Khwisero buoyed with partisan home ground support killed off the match in 67th minute after Kennedy Onyango finished on Caleb Omusula’s low cross.
Speaking after the match Allstars coach Chinjili rued wasted opportunities by his strikers something he termed as a concern for his team and needs to be fixed. His Khwisero counterpart James Okwara praised the mental strength and patience of his team which is now bearing fruit.
“We have experienced a long run of poor results but i am very much pleased to see it come to an end, we want maintain the focus and finish among the top teams,” he added.
