Global gaming company SportPesa has ventured into the Italian market, bringing to six the number of countries around the globe that will benefit from its massive sponsorship.
Since its formation, SportPesa has gained popularity especially in its deliberate corporate social responsibility of supporting sporting events and clubs.
However, it is not clear which teams the giant company will sponsor or enter into partnership with in the new deal but what is certain is that it has acquired majority stake holding in RCS gaming, a licenced Italian gaming operator from the RCS Media Group.
The current operation has been on the market, under the GazzaBet brand, for nearly three years and has created a solid presence within Italy. Adams Beighton, Sport Pesa’s newly-appointed chairman of the board of the Italian market, acknowledged the partnership and described it a milestone in the country.
“This is yet another milestone in SportPesa’s development as a global brand. The acquisition of RCS Gaming will enable rapid expansion in Italy and will present new opportunities to showcase to our current and future customers the SportPesa culture,” said Beighton.
The latest development comes barely six months after SportPesa entered into partnership with Spanish League, La Liga, in an effort that is also tailored at developing the sport in Kenya through exchange programmes. Already a select team made up of local league players, is in Spain for a series of friendly matches.
Besides Kenya, SportPesa had ventured into United Kingdom, Spain and Tanzania markets. The agreement with La Liga, in which SportPesa became their official betting partner, was also viewed as another step forward in the latter’s bid to get closer to followers of Spanish football in Africa.
