Stray Lions stayed on course in the Nairobi Provincial Cricket Association Super League after demolishing Cutchi Leva by seven wickets as action continued at the weekend.
Captain Hiren Varaiya notched four wickets off 20 balls in a performance that saw the Peponi-based side go top of the log. Lions restricted Cutchi Leva by a run score of 147 inside 34.1 overs after selecting to field.
The experienced Lions’ cast came alive after the break and chased the target in only 13.5 overs with enterprising Manyala Pranith getting 74 off 40 balls which included four maximums and 10 boundaries.
Sensational batsman Ashwin Hebbar got on to an unbeaten 46 off 20 balls with three boundaries and four maximums. Elsewhere at Forest Road, hosts Nairobi Gymkhana were bowled out for 80 runs by neighbours Sikh Union in an uncharacteristic display.
Gurdeep Singh’s impressive 81 from 65 balls led the charge as they put together a total run score of 201. Paramveer Singh and Abdul Rehman combined for 86 with pace bowler Pratik Ghallare picking three off 11 as Tarandeep Singh and Sandip Adole bagged two wickets apiece. Only skipper Karan Kaul (25) and Harsh Patel (13) had near decent scores for the dismal Gymkhana.
