More than 1, 000 integrated Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) now want the court to lift orders barring the government from disbursing some Sh6 billion set aside for their resettlement.
Through their lawyer Angela Kerubo the IDPs are seeking to overturn the orders issued by court on March 27 barring the disbursement of the funds by the government saying the petitioners who filed the suit in court are not legitimate IDPs.
However, the application was opposed by the lawyer Wilfred Konosi for the petitioners who faulted the timing of the application in court saying the proposed interested parties have not shown any interest in the suit and should not be allowed.
Justice Roselyne Korir slated July 27 for ruling on whether the proposed interested parties should be enjoined in the suit. Elsewhere, IDPs living in Naivasha now want full disclosure of beneficiaries of cash compensation from government.
Under the Nyikwa Ramogi Self-Help Group, the IDPs want the process of issuing the funds stopped until the list of beneficiaries is made public.
