The second leg of the SportPesa Super Eight Premier League resumes this weekend with seven mouth-watering matches. Team Umeme from football-crazy Ziwani Estate come up against fellow rookies Zamalek at home which will be the headline match on Saturday at 3 pm.
Umeme, under the stewardship of Aggrey Ongoli, will be seeking to slow down the title push by Zamalek although this may not be easy given the latter’s never-say-die attitude. Zamalek who are fighting to return into the top three ranks sit pretty in the fourth place in the league standing after collecting 33 points gained from 10 wins and three draws.
On the other hand, Umeme occupy a distant ninth place and will be gunning to scale the ladder to eighth place. Meanwhile, sparks are expected to fly on Sunday when Ngando Youth Sports Association (NYSA) and Makongeni Sports Association (MASA) come face-to-face at Ngong Posta grounds.
Both teams will be in dire need of a win after inexplicably dropping points in their round 17 ties in identical 1-1 draws against Kabete United and Kiambiu Youth respectively. NYSA who have a game in hand are placed third after reaping 34 points.
At Kabete Technical grounds, a potentially explosive match will bring together home team and battle-hardened Eastlands side Kayole Asubuhu who are the defending champions. The two teams will have one thing in mind which is to reap maximum points to improve their positions in the league chart.
At Drive Inn ground on Thika Road, Ezekiel Akwana-led Metro Sports will take on Macmilan aiming to cast away the spell of their shaky start in the second leg where they have losttheir last two games.
Last week, Metro were inflicted a 4-2 defeat by Meltah Kabiria and another slump will be unacceptable to their fans. However, Metro will need to be extra keen as their weekend opponents have shown remarkable improvement since their priceless 1-0 win over Ajax Youth.
In Rongai, Ole Rongai will parade before their fans seeking for the downfall of the unpredictable Meltah Kabiria. This is a match which will bring together teams of the same context of strength which makes it quite unpredictable.
