Sigiri will stand again, declares Namwamba

Budalangi MP Ababu Namwamba says President Uhuru Kenyatta will win the August 8 General Election because of his development track record.

He spoke during the official launch of cash transfer programme for 70-year-olds and above at Busia Youth polytechnic. Namwamba (pictured), who is also the Labour Party of Kenya (LPK) leader appealed to Busia residents to stick with Uhuru and remain in government.

He said Sigiri Bridge which collapsed recently in his constituency will be reconstructed in accordance to the President’s directive. The MP who was accompanied by Water Minister Eugene Wamalwa and Transport and Infrastructure Cabinet secretary James Macharia said investigations are still going on to establish the cause of the bridge failure.

“Sigiri Bridge will stand despite the celebrations some people are doing following its collapse,” hen said. Wamalwa said the government is reviving textile industries in the country citing Kicomi in Kisumu and Rivatex, adding that cotton will be revived in Busia county to uplift lives of residents.

He said the government has set aside Sh10 billion for Bunyala irrigation scheme and a similar amount for Angololo irrigation scheme in Teso North constituency.
