Maybe you could be looking to invest and owning a luxurious holiday house around a tranquil sea front that will earn you an extra buck as you hustle and bustle away in the unforgiving city?
Then One Watamu African Resort could be your answer. Located in the heart of Watamu 120km north of Mombasa, the beautiful homes are a few minutes’ drive from Watamu town centre.
A 20-minute drive from the Malindi Airport ushers you to the expansive bay resort and spa. At first glance, one may be forgiven to think that the bumpy ride leads to an ancient auberge, only to be ushered into an attractive piece of property.
The property is spread across 26 acres of beach front, with a beautiful ambience that lets into the enthralling view of the Indian Ocean, while another outlook provides a nice introduction to the geology of the area.
The inviting and expansive layout is attractively designed to accommodate everyone’s needs; both young and old. There is plenty of parking at the hotel’s main parking area. A golf buggy transported me and my luggage to reception office.
Soon after, I’m ably checked into a luxuriously furnished room, one of the 150 rooms available, many of which offer a spectacular turquoise ocean.
The cleverly done interior décor is classy regime, invoking a feeling of an upmarket elite establishment perched in a quiet nestle. The room facilities include an attractive double bed, a sofa bed and bathroom with a walk-in shower, WiFi and air condition and a balcony to enjoy the sea views.
After a much needed quench from my welcome cocktail, the relaxing view of the pleasant pool area was irresistible. Indeed, the resort has up to four private swimming pools, four choices of dining experience, kids club area a VIP lounge and bar.
“We serve a mix of traditional local food plus international cuisine. We have both a buffet and a la carte menus,” the hotel’s manager informs us. Those in for a sporty experience other than swimming, will be spoilt for choice as a modern tennis court, beach volleyball pitch, football and hockey are all available.
This is to add to a modern gym and spa. According to Ainsley Duncombe, the CEO of African Resort International who are the property developers, this is a chance for residents to own a vocational home as well as open doors to rental income.
“We have put a lot into consideration to ensure that our clients get the utmost comfort, which is enhanced by our award winning resort, amenities and services at an affordable arrangement.
It’s a chance to own a home away from home with a private beach just a stone’s throw and remains conducive for family all through the year,” he says. .
