Jubilee mobilising security forces to rig poll, claims Raila

National Super Alliance (Nasa) presidential candidate Raila Odinga yesterday claimed that President Uhuru Kenyatta is laying the ground for rigging the forthcoming elections by the ongoing mobilisation of security forces for deployment in selected areas “supposedly in readiness for election chaos.”

He claimed there is ongoing full- scale mobilisation and training of various security forces including Kenya Wildlife Service, Kenya Forest Service and prison wardens, among others.

Addressing journalists at his Capitol Hill office yesterday, Raila said the President and his deputy, William Ruto appear to be preparing to reject the elections because they had sensed defeat.

He said remarks associated with the duo while on their countrywide campaign trail regarding recent outcomes on election preparation, clearly confirm Opposition fears that they intend to rig the election.

“Cornered by their failures and threatened by fears of losing power, President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President, William Ruto have in recent couple of weeks resorted to lying – intentionally, deliberately, and consistently to the country in addition to resorting to intimidation of independent institutions as campaigns have tightened and things swing out of the President’s control,” the former premier said. He denied claims by Jubilee that the Opposition was not ready for the elections, instead he said that Nasa is more than ready.
