The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) will spend Sh1.24 billion to tarmack the road connecting Rwambuya – Ukwala – Ugunja towns in Siaya county.
Director general Peter Mundinia said the 28 kilometres stretch will ease transport and communication in the area when completed. He said the road is part of the government’s plans to ensure that areas are connected.
“This road will serve residents of three sub-counties namely; Budalang’i, Ugenya and Ugunja and thus open up business opportunities, ” he said in Ukwala town after leading a delegation from the KeNHA in inspecting progress of the road. The tender was awarded to China National Overseas Engineering Corporation (Covec) which worked on Siaya – Rwambuwa road.
