D’banj for Koroga Festival

SOUTH COAST TALENT SHOW

Bidibadu Beach Entertainment will on Saturday, July 8, hold a talent show of a kind at Diani Showground. The South Coast Talent show, to be hosted by Mzazi Willy Tuva and will be featuring BET Award winning Bongo artiste Rayvanny.

The one with the best act stands to win a recording deal. Mafioso Crew, Odinare Binges, BMG, Spiked Family, Ramesh and Yuro Milionea, among others, will perform. Entry fee for regulars will be Sh500, Sh1,500 for VIP and Sh2,500 for VVIP. – Saturday

MR IBU FOR PEACE CONCERT

Nollywood fans in Kenya will on Saturday, July 8, have an interaction with renowned Nigerian actors, who are in the country for a peace event to be held both in Mombasa and Nairobi.

Organised by Charles Kenya and Dola Kabarry Foundation, the Coast Park in Mombasa will host Mr Ibu, Ken Okonkwo, Tonto Dikeh and Conny Kabarry.

In Nairobi, they performed at the Uhuru Gardens on Friday July 7. Kenyan performers will be Willy Paul, Jua Cali, Timmy TDat, Jaguar, Dola Kabarry and Emma Jalamo. Advance tickets go for Sh1,000 and Sh1,500 at the gate.

LUO FESTIVAL NAIROBI EDITION

Carnivore grounds in Nairobi will on Saturday, July 8, host Luo Festival from 6pm till dawn. Entry charges for the Arena Media-organised event are Sh1,000 for VIP and Sh2,000 VVIP.

On the line up to spice up the night will be Khaligraph Jones, Emma Jalamo, Ajo Mbuta, Musa Jakadala, Lady Maureen, Wuod Fibi, Jalang’o, Owago, Fred Omondi and MC Okal, among others.

DJ Joe Mfalme, VJ Ace Cross and DJ Vinn Vader will be on the decks. The festival will incorporate the Luo culture with music, performances and lakeside delicacies.

DJ HASSAN AT CLUB IMAGE

On Saturday, July 8, Club Image Thika will host celebrated mixmaster DJ Hassan, in what is touted to be the best event in town.

Hosted by resident deejays Cyrus and Cnem, the event will see music fans not only get free merchandise from Hassan, but also gift hampers from the club. First 50 ladies will get free Tequila shots. Saturday

EAST AFRICA FASHION WEEK

The fourth edition of the East Africa Fashion Week (EAFW) is here and will be held at Amber Hotel along Ngong Road in Nairobi on Saturday, July 8. Fifteen fashion and guest designers from across East Africa will be hosted, as they launch their collections.

EAFW is a platform that aims to bring all the East Africa fashion designers, buyers, consumers, media and all fashion enthusiasts to view the latest collection that the region has to offer. The show kicks off at 7pm, to end at 10pm. Entry charges are Sh2,500 (advance tickets) and Sh4,000 at the gate.

DIANI BEACH TOUCH RUGBY TOURNAMENT

The ninth five-aside Diani Beach Touch Rugby Tournament finals will be held on Sunday, July 9, at the Forty Thieves Beach Bar in Mombasa.

There will be 28 teams competing in the three-day tournament, which starts on Friday, July 7, under floodlights. Friday and Saturday will be run on a league basis and Sunday’s games will be a knockout competition. – Sunday

D’banj for Koroga Festival

The 18th edition of music picnic event, Koroga Festival, will be held on Saturday, July 29, and Sunday, July 30, at the Carnivore grounds.

The event seeks to celebrate great acts, food and culture from around Africa. On Saturday, the show will run from 2pm to 11pm, and on Sunday, it will run from noon to 7pm.

Saturday tickets are going for Sh1,000, Sh2,000 for Sunday and season tickets for the two days at Sh2,500. Deejays Kace, Suraj, Foozak, Protege, EA Wave and Slik will be on the decks on Saturday, while Sunday’s main act will be Nigerian music superstar, D’banj. – Sunday
