Last Sunday will remain etched in the mind of 32-year-old Joel Kiplagat whose ‘birthday present’ came early when he became Lotto’s 16th Supa Sunday millionaire in the first Supa Sunday of June, two days to his birth date.
The June 6 born Nandi County resident achieved this hallmark winning Sh1million with his ticket bearing the numbers 16, 42,13,12,3,5 and bonus number 6 for the greatest birthday present and to become Lotto’s 170th millionaire.
The father of two has made a living over the past four years as a small-scale farmer, prior to which he worked as a casual labourer. However, that is bound to change as his winnings will aid him start a profit-making project of choice.
Kiplagat joins the millionaire bandwagon courtesy of the leading lottery that has 170 millionaires and 19 multimillionaires since Lotto’s inception, in November 2015. Inclusive of Lotto’s 165th draw last Saturday, its winners stand at 2,307,066 overall, with and 74,170 coming from the latest draw alone.
Last week, Joseph Mutungi became the second Lotto Power Draw winner this year, taking home Sh10 million in the Madaraka Day Power Draw. The construction worker was joined by Peter Wainaina in ushering in Madaraka Day in style, who bagged Sh1.2 million in the draw to become Lotto’s 168th millionaire.
Mutungi’ a father of four, won by raffle, while Wainaina won by matching five out of six numbers and the bonus number against the winning numbers.
