Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong’s re-election campaign has suffered a blow after his deputy Kizito Wangalwa declared he would not support him in the next election.

Wangalwa said that although he remains deputy governor, he would not be Ojaamong’s runningmate in the August 8 poll. Addressing the press in his office, Wangalwa said he will dedicate his time and energy to mobilise votes for Nasa presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

“I am not going to be Ojaamong’s running mate or a candidate in the next General Election,” he said. The deputy governor’s move comes a day after Senator Amos Wako warned Raila against campaigning for the governor.

Wako said he would neither campaign for Ojaamong’ nor his rival Paul Otuoma for governor. Ojaamong suffered another blow when Lands and Housing executive Bernadette Muyomi resigned on Tuesday.
