Wounded Leopards face champs Tusker

A section of AFC Leopards officials are already in talks with possible successors of British tactician Stewart Hall as the crisis hit club travel to Kinoru Stadium in Meru County for a tricky league encounter with reigning champions Tusker. Leopards have been in turmoil since winning against Thika United in early April, they have not won since then, losing five matches and drawing one.

Their woeful course is further compounded by uncertainty over Hall’s future and worsened by nervy officials already seeking alternatives. Hall stunned the fans when he disclosed offers from three different clubs and refused to pledge his future at ‘The Den’.

A promising outfit that was Ingwe then descended on dismal performance run, which they hope to halt with victory over Tusker against odds. Tusker and Leopards exhibit sharply contrasting statistics in their previous six matches.

While the defending champions shook off a wobbly start to the season to leap to the top three on the log, their opponents seem to have totally lost their lustre of early 2017 Sportpesa Premier League days.

Tusker have won their last six matches and propped themselves within touching distance of leaders Gor Mahia while Leopards who once topped the table have faded fast and are currently on the bottom half of the table.

Victory over the defending champions would halt a three-year luckless spell for Ingwe over Tusker. Leopards’ only victory over Tusker dates back to May 2014 and it is the only one over the brewers in their last 12 meetings.

Posta Rangers host Gor Mahia at Nyayo Stadium in another weekend highlight that would certainly have an impact on the title fight. Rangerslost their winning streak to Ulinzi last week and will be keen to avoid more slips, while Gor who dropped points against Thika United, will be hoping to bouncing back swiftly with Ulinzi Star breathing down their necks.

In Kisumu, veteran coach Henry Omino will need his experience as he strives to steer Western Stima from the bottom with a date against Kariobangi Sharks while promoted Zoo Kericho host Sony Sugar. Sofapaka travel to Sudi stadium for a date with hosts Nzoia Sugar while second from bottom Mathare United play moneyed Nakumatt at Ruaraka.
