Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, Senator Mike Sonko, Women’s Rep Rachel Shebesh yesterday snubbed the pre-nomination meeting organised by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Other prominent candidates including former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth, Women’s Rep aspirant Esther Passaris and nominated Senator Johnston Sakaja also gave the exercise a wide berth.
However, Miguna Miguna (pictured, left), an independent candidate, was in attendance at the meeting meant to enlighten aspirants on electoral process. Miguna expressed confidence that a number of independent candidates will be elected in the August 8 polls.
“We are prepared…We also hope that IEBC has made enough preparations for the polls,” he said. On May 28 and 29, presidential candidates will be required to submit their nomination papers for clearance. MCAs, MPs and Independent candidates will submit their papers between June 1 and 2.
