Jinx in the ring

Brangelina lived as man and wife for a decade and Brad slipped a rock on it in 2014. Now their marriage is over just two years after, a worrying trend of brief celebrity marriages. Cynthia Mukanzi highlights some  celebrity relationships that lasted longer in courtship, but burnt out soon after nuptials

Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were the ultimate Hollywood love story spanning 12 years. Little did their fans know that By The Sea would be the last film they see of the pair as a couple.

The motion picture is about a couple trying to salvage their tumultuous marriage, a speculation that Jolie and Pitt were struggling with the same. The parents of six put up a front denying it until their recent parting.

Jolie filed for divorce on 15th September, after two years of marriage from her actor partner. In a statement to the press, Jolie’s attorney cited that the decision was made for the health of her children while Pitt expressed his heartbreak. “I am very saddened by this, but what matters most now is the wellbeing of our children.

I kindly ask the press to give them the space they deserve during this challenging time,” Pitt said. Brangelina aren’t alone in a circle where a ring seems to jinx romance.

Betty Kyalo and Dennis Okari

They were the ideal romance couple dating for more than five years and their opulent wedding late last year was aticipated. Okari and Betty already had a baby and all they needed to complete the picture was a walk down the aisle.

They constantly bombarded the public with social media posts and enviable photos of their honeymoon. No sooner had the TV presenters settled in their matrimonial home than the roof blew off puzzling viewers. Their union shrivelled after six months due to ‘irreconcilable differences’.

DNG and Yvette Nungari

Kenya’s renowned MC and hype man and Yvette Nungari’s wedding was pure bliss. Their 2015 nuptials, however, could not survive the storm and like a candle in the wind, they withered off.

A disgruntled ex-husband, DNG, did not mince his words and took the war to social media posting. “I dumped a really hot chic who had a really dark heart and a shitty personality.

I’d rather be with a chic who scores 1/10 when it comes to looks, but who has a heart of gold. It takes a really mature mind to understand such depth. It is foolish to pretend to be happy with someone because he/ she looks good. Na akichapa?”he possed.

Susumila and Kibibi Salim

Spicers have just learnt that the Mombasa based hit maker and father of two has allegedly separated from Kibibi Salim, his wife of less than a year. Reasons for their split are yet to be known.

Kibibi together with their daughter, is currently at her folks place. This was his second marriage. Susumila divorced his first wife in 2015 claiming that she wanted to smother his career.

On the other hand, she fired back calling him a deadbeat dad. “I set up a salon with all assortments of cosmetics for her in addition to that, I do pay her Sh10000 per month,” Susumila said.

“She just wants to see my downfall. She wanted me to quit music so we can get along but I cannot; music is my life and I’m proud of it.” Tiwa Savage and Tunji Ballogun (TJ) After their split in April, Ballogun, also known as Teebillz went off on an Instagram rant accusing Tiwa of infidelity.

Teebillz publicly launched an ugly attack on his ex-wife posting a past photo of the songstress and captioning it ; “This was you when I met you with 100 per cent insecurity.”

TJ claimed that the singer was involved with 2Face, but the latter blasted him. Savage also rubbished the allegations saying that their marriage was dead even before she called it quits. They got married in 2014 in Dubai.
