After 30 matches Ngando Youth Association (NYSA) forward Robinson Shitandi emerged top scorer in the lucrative Sportpesa Super 8 Division One league. Shitandi 27, pumped in goals that helped his team earn promotion to the top tier league, which is the Sportpesa Super 8 Premier League in next year’s edition.
The goal hunter wrapped up the grassroots competition in style at the weekend after he found the back of the net thrice to inspire his side to a 5-1 win against underdogs Angola FC at Ngong Posta grounds. Shitandi told People Sport he will use his skills and agility to help his squad prevail in the top tier league come next year.
“First and foremost I would to thank my team-mates because if it was not for them I would not have scored. Come next year I know my squad will do well in the top tier league since we have playing together as a unit for a couple of years and because I trust my speedy, agility and dribbling skills will help us get far,” said Shitandi.
He also added his aim come next year is to try and break his current 27 goals record in the top most league. In terms of goals, Rongai All Stars’ marksman Boniface Muyonga who has 25 goals under his belt closely follows the top scorer.
Washington Vihembo of Leads United sits comfortably at third place with his 22 goals while Team Umeme’s Aggrey Ongoli who has plundered 18 goals comes fourth while Kevin Karanja of Macmillan completes the top five list on 12 goals.
