Sports betting firm Betway will be hosting their inaugural Corporate Challenge at the par 73 Kitale Golf Club on Saturday. A field of over 100 golfers are expected to attend and participate in this, the first of many golf tournaments Betway intends to stage across various parts of the country.
The venue is one of the most scenic golf courses in Kenya and will host a large number of amateur golfers from Kitale who will be joined by their counterparts and competitors from Eldoret, Nandi Bears and Kakamega.
Some of the leading players at Kitale are expected to attend including Philip Shiharsy, Zack Nderito, Elisha Mwei and Martin Kiplimo.
Participants will compete for some fantastic prizes with awards going to the overall winner, the golfer who hits the longest drive, best junior and best lady with Betway hoping to bring together sports enthusiasts and golfers for a friendly challenge as part of their long-term plan to support and promote sports development across the country.
“Our inaugural golf tournament aims to provide an atmosphere that is fun, engaging and competitive. More importantly, we want those competing to have fun, interact and network in a relaxed and informal setting, while providing them an opportunity to sharpen their golfing skills,” said Betway country manager Wanja Gikonyo.
Meanwhile, Betway plans to have a large-scale training programme next month dubbed “Betway Talent Search” that will host 1,600 aspiring footballers and test their skills under the watchful eyes of local and international scouts as they compete for a place in the final 16 who will attend a specialized football training camp.
This camp will be headed by Mathare United coach Francis Kimanzi, coaching staff from English Premier League side West Ham United and local legend Dennis Oliech. From the final 16, one lucky footballer will win a training trip to West Ham United in the United Kingdom.
