New faces in Stars squad for Congo tie

National Super League (NSL) side Vihiga United youthful defender Bernard Ochieng and fast-rising Western Stima midfielder Kenneth Mugambi are among the surprise inclusions in Harambee Stars who play away to the Democratic Republic of Congo in a friendly on October 4.

The squad that was named by head coach Stanely Okumbi is a blend of youth and experience with Okumbi summoning 13 foreign-based players in the match slated for the 80,000-sitter Martyrs Stadium in Kinshasa.

According to Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Communications and Public Relations manager Barry Otieno, locally-based players will report to camp on September 19 while the foreign legion will link up with the squad from their respective bases from October 2.
