The development of more than 160 villas and town houses within view of Mount Kenya and the Aberdare Ranges will be completed in 2018. The homes will be located on a 131-acre site in Naromoru, Nyeri County. The project is a unique real estatecum-tourism venture.

The developer, Mt Kenya Holiday Homes, has partnered with Swiss International Hotels and Resorts who will manage the Resort upon completion. The development has adopted the Swiss International Resort Mount Kenya brand and will be the flagship Resort for Swiss International in sub-saharan Africa.

The luxury residential housing development project will also feature a nine-hole golf course, a 100-room resort hotel complete with a bush spa, health club, a clubhouse, children’s club and a forest conservancy among other facilities.

Project developer Ronald Ndegwa says partnering with Swiss International Hotels and Resorts has placed the development on the global map. Swiss International Hotels and Resorts, being a respected international hospitality brand, provides the much needed capacity to benchmark the facility among the world’s best.

The four bedroom villas under construction stand on half-an-acre plots with magnificent finishes, sliding doors and large windows, allowing for natural lighting and clear views of the mountain peaks and Aberdare Ranges.

The architectural designs have also been flexibly considered, with a choice of three designs and tailor made interior layout. Some of the houses, for instance, feature more spacious living rooms than others; while others feature living rooms adjoined to kitchens; three or four bedrooms; all have balconies.

The project is managed by Ark Consultants, a real estate consultancy firm specialising in real estate management and general real estate advisory services to clients both individual and corporate.

Their director, Reginald Okumu, says its role is to help the client identify and recruit service consultants and hire the contractor, while coordinating the entire process from concept development, design approval to construction.

“Our main task is to coordinate the construction process to ensure quality work within budgetary framework, identify risks and advise the client on mitigation measures,” Okumu says.
