And just like that, past goes the World Environment Day…but who cares?

Yesterday was World Environment Day. However, despite the direct relation that a healthy flora and fauna have on our survival and overall happiness, the Day is hardly noticeable, let alone celebrated.

Wildlife trade is booming with spirited efforts from countries such as ours to end it before we exterminate more species from earth facing equally spirited opposition.

Fact is, we are interdependent as species and the extinction of one has dire consequences on the others. Humans and herbivores depend on plants for food and medicine, carnivores eat the herbivores, the plants need insects for pollination which in turn need dead plants and animals to thrive. It’s a cycle that needs to stay intact or else a future species will be studying fossils of humans —long after we have ran the earth aground.
