The State yesterday closed its murder case against a Naivasha man accused of sucking the blood of his victims after it failed to produce more witnesses.

Prosecutor, Nelly Ngovi, was taken to task  when she sought another adjournment to enable her to trace more than 14 witnesses against Geoffrey Matheri, better known as “Naivasha Vampire” after his kidnap victims, mostly female, alleged that he sucked their blood.

Resident Judge Maureen Odero said the prosecution had shown no intention of proceeding with the case by failing to produce the witnesses despite having been granted several adjournments. In November 2011, Matheri was found guilty of kidnap and jailed for four years.
