AP officer flees public wrath after ‘raping’ disabled girl

An Administration Police officer attached to Lesirwa AP Camp in Kipkelion West sub-county has gone underground after allegedly raping a disabled girl in his house in the camp on Monday night.

The officer fled to an unknown destination after members of the public who were baying for his blood stormed the camp to flush him out for committing the heinous act. The officer is allegedly to have lured the girl to his house at the camp before raping her on the Monday night.

The enraged father of the girl, Joseph Korir, said his daughter was suppose to report at the Eldoret Technical Institute for a course before she fell into the trap of the officer. He told journalists that he made inquiries after his daughter disappeared, in vain.

On Tuesday, some people who had spotted the girl with the police officer at Lesirwa shopping centre informed the family, prompting them to storm the camp with the help of the locals and found their daughter at the officer’s house.

The girl according to her father had gone to a local salon at Lesirwa market in preparation for the Eldoret journey the following day (Tuesday) and did not return home. Kipkelion West police boss Samuel Anampiu said the girl was taken to one of the dispensaries.

Meanwhile, police in Homa Bay have opened an inquest file to investigate a case in which two police officers allegedly raped a woman in Mbita sub-county.

The officers attached to Mbita AP line are said to have cheated the 20-year-old woman that they were to protect her on her way home in Kamasengre on Rusinga Island after a night out in a club in Mbita town on August , before raping her.

The woman said the officers found her by the bar gate waiting for a boda boda operator at around 3 am and offered to drop her to the nearby stage before forcibly taking her to their quarters and raped her.

“They promised to take me to a nearby road for the motorcyclist to come and pick me by the road but instead took me to their house in Mbita town,” she said. She said The officers also threatened her during and after the ordeal.
